Buddha Head

Every part of this Buddha head is rich in meaning. The crown of hair is known as the ushnisha, which symbolizes the knowledge and spiritual ideals taught by the Buddha. The long ears are better able to hear the needs and suffering of the world, and they represent compassion. The downcast eyes show a meditative state that looks both outward and inward, and ultimately toward the truth. The full mouth stands for eloquent speech, while the slight smile symbolizes remaining calm even in a tumultuous world.
